Broken Destiny
What Broken Destiny is: Broken Destiny is where most dreams and visions die, fail and never survive the storm. But it is the launching part for greater and higher achievements and impact. Broken destiny is where dream and vision are taken captive, circumvented, threatened and debarred. This is a state where the individual is isolated, feel alone, deserted, the struggle seems overwhelming and all refuge fails. This is where our dreams are shattered and dismembered.
It is this moment that Satan and all his cohorts’ whispers “kill yourself” “it is not worth it”, “you have struggled enough” “nobody cares about you”, “leave the church”, “live the way you want; now-break the rule”, “you have done all you can, and God is not with you anymore”. This is not a comfortable situation or state to be in.
For Satan, broken destiny is like a rest stop where believers park to grasps some air, because of his acts:– there is blown out tire; the muffler is broken; the engine is overheating; there is an oil leak, etc. Or to put it clearly, you got a bad news from your doctor about your health or started experiencing failing health; there is an impending eviction; your spouse had abandoned you, cheated or quit on you; your parents cannot afford your tuition; your home is going for foreclosure; your children are on drugs, joined the gang, got pregnant, or your family has rejected you, etc. But what you do at this moment is critical where your dream, vision or destiny will go or end. How you respond is very important as to your next level and fulfillment.
Many believers at this junction, cave in, throw in the towel and give up. But it is at this moment that God is ever present and near; it is at this time the grace of the Lord is mightily abundant; it is at this period that the Holy Spirit is watching intently.
Psalm 34:18: The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psalm 51:17: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
God intently watches what you do between the times your dream or vision begins to break/fall apart to the time of its fulfillment. For God, it is the moment he picks up the pieces together for a finer vessel. Broken destiny is a time to fine tune the vision or dream; the moment to ground/mature the ministry, call or assignment; it is a time to develop inner spiritual values and know the power of the invisible God. It is the time when God wants the vision or dream to be completely and totally his.
Jeremiah 18: 1-6. King James Version (KJV)
The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
Examples of men and women with broken destinies are:
Abraham: He ran out of patience at a time and felt he had waited too long, stock, going nowhere and God’s promise is not working or coming to pass. Abraham was ready to offer his option, and reject God’s plan or destiny for his life. From his word, you could sense the frustration and disappointment—“How long will he keep waiting and seeking?”
Genesis 15:1-4, After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.,2 And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? 3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. 4 And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
Yet, it was this moment that God proved him, to see what was in his heart or spirit. Something kept Abraham going, and that was HOPE. Ro.4:18-25.
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
Ruth: Naomi has had it. She is crushed, confused, embittered, disappointed, helplessly drifting and covered with hopelessness and shame: Ruth:1:11-13. “11 And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands? 12 Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons; 13 Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.” Ruth:1: 19-21. “19 So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi? 20 And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. 21 I went out full and the Lord hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?
Will you blame Naomi for her feelings of pain? Ruth 1:1-4. But God had a plan and worked awesomely to bring to pass a messianic fulfillment through her and her daughter in law Ruth. Thank God she quickly sensed the shift and adapted to the move of God as Ruth and Boaz united in marriage. Ruth 2:1-2, 18-23; 4:13-17.
Job: The book of Job looks like a fairy tale. I don’t know of anyone who has suffered such a fate and tragedy. When you take of Broken Destiny, you think of Job. Job.1:1-22; 2:1-13. The wife of Job reached her extreme of endurance and lost it. Job 2:9-10. “9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.”
Read what Job said: 3 After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day. 2 And Job spake, and said, 3 Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived. 4 Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it. 5 Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.6 As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months. 7 Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein. 8 Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.
9 Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day: 10 Because it shut not up the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.11 Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly? 12 Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck? 13 For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,”
But Job faith remain unshaken although crushed. Job 19:24-25. 24 That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever! 25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:”
